Glam Chick

Hi people, hope you are enjoying your weekend so far? I was rummaging around in FTV yesterday looking for a new dress and came across this amazing little number.  The black and gold geometric stripes of this dress were so eye-catching and took me hurtling back to the mid 70’s & early 80’s.  Not that I remember the mid 70’s but I was very heavily influenced by artists like Bowie and Bryan Ferry in my younger days, not only was the music awesome but these guys had a wonderful sense of style.  Actually, I have to admit now that I was deeply in love with Bryan Ferry he was so suave & sexy and always looked stylin’. Of course he was about 20 years too old for me lol, but these girly crushes when you are a kid make no sense at all do they?  Anyway, maybe this clip from Roxy Music will give you a feel for my meaning here.  Note Jerry Hall in the slinky outfit towards the end, and imagine me pushing her out of the way – he’s MINE!  Not sure about the mustache but heh, it’s Bryan I forgive him.

Anyway, enough waffling & back to the outfit.  The grid was really borked last night when I put this outfit together.  I took the skirt off to adjust the pants layer as they are pretty short and my ao kept showing unwanted thigh.  Sadly, no matter how much I tried, the grid would not put my skirt back on so I was forced to walk around without it.  However, it wasn’t a bad look at all, in fact, it was a smexy little jumpsuit or so I kept telling myself :D  You can also buy this dress in silver and black too – YAY!

I have paired the outfit with heels from Storm Schmooz, big sunglasses and hair by Kin to bring the look back to 2008. We can’t keep reliving our yoofs can we?

70’s Heaven

I was inspired to take a look at GLAM’s new refurb and take advantage of the sale.  While I was umming and ahhing over the clothes,  this mighteh fine jumpsuit caught my eye, I have never seen it before and couldn’t wait to try it on.  This outfit reminds me of Farah Fawcett so of course I just had to pair it with big hair XD.

To add a little more glamour I teamed the jumpsuit with gold shoes and accessories.  I’m in heels here but I think the outfit would look great with sneakers too, maybe add a baseball cap for an extra 70’s touch.

Two sides of the same coin

I’m so busy with a few things in both SL and RL at the moment, so will keep this post short.  I know I usually blah on inanely but luckily for you, I don’t have the time:P  My post today is all about Emery’s Autumn Ashes dress – same dress, two different looks.

Look1

emhalfhyde13.jpg

I’ve kept the first look relatively casual by pairing the dress with white jeans and these goregous pumps by Armidi.  To be honest this could very easily double up as an evening look too^^

Look2

emhalf3.jpg

Paired with nothing but these awesome boots from Naima, short and very smexy hair by Philotic Energy and some silver funky accessories, this look screams look at meeee.  It’s not an outfit for the faint hearted and if I saw someone flaunting it in this get-up, I’m sure she would be in IM hell from unnatached guys lol.  Wear at own risk :P

Retro Rascals

Vintage clothing is always in style and it’s been great to see our beloved bad girls like Lilly Allen, Amy Winehouse and Kelly Osbourn sporting vintage looks.  You have to admit they do it with style and it’s definitely a look direct from the street.

artifull2.jpg

Since I first became interested in clothing, I’ve noticed that vintage pieces have always played a strong part in fashion.  In the 80’s we had Madonna with her little dresses and leggings, in the 90’s it was the grunge look – Courtney Love being a classic example.  And right now, we have the afore-mentioned girlies.  Thinking on it, it seems it’s always the bad girls who wear Vintage lol

artifull3.jpg

This outfit started with Artilleri’s Aunty Elsie dress in yellow, I just loved the texture of this dress, the pattern is adorable and so 50’s.  In fact I love it so much, I won’t rest until I find something similar in RL & make myself one of those cute 1950’s aprons out of it.  I digress, sorry.  Antonia seems to work magic with her textures, every little detail in her clothes seems to really stand out, it’s almost like you can see the love right there on your outfit.  Neferia of Ivalde fame has the same feel with her gorgeous dresses, every detail lovingly placed.

  artihalf3.jpg

The jacket is by !_Ce_Cubic effect and was blogged recently by MichaMiwho reminded me of it and the fact that I stupidly only bought it in brown and never thought of pairing it with a dress.  Sends a little smile and a wave of thanks to Milla :)

Snatching at Sn@tch?

Hey all, it’s been a week since my last blog due to me being busy in RL and having difficulties with my blog, pictures were suddenly disappearing and then being replaced by others, it was like the gremlins had invaded lol.

Anyway, I felt compelled to write when my friend Taille gave me the heads-up on Ivy’s recent post over at Snatch.  Oh my, it touched a nerve I can tell you.  Ivy often places freebies in her store, not just for members of her group but for the whole of the SL community.  I remember when I started this account with Saiko, I had originally intended to keep it free as there are so many generous freebies available.  One of the first items I got free was this Film Noir dress made by Ivy, I remember feeling so lucky that something so beautiful was available as a freebie (granted, it was for a limited time only).

snatch6.jpg

Now freebies are truly a great thing and when you start out, items like this dress are a treasure.  But it seems people are taking freebies for granted, not just at Ivy’s store but all over the grid.  That is fine if you really have no money, but for those of us who do have money it is a crying shame just to take and not purchase anything else from that designer.

I remember on Fashcon Rezday, all the wonderful gifts on the grid, it was truly a great day, but I couldn’t help at times feeling like a vulture swooping in for the next tit-bit.  Was I alone in feeling this way?  We all want something for free, it seems to be part of our culture these days, but when designer’s hard work and generosity goes unrewarded it is a little cringe-worthy.

I have had lots of freebies and I love them, and I too am guilty of not always purchasing something from the store, but I am working on it – I’ve said it before in another post of mine, it’s my karma lol.  I have yet to buy something at Ivy’s only as I think with this dress I got my fave item in her store but I follow her work religiously and am waiting for that special something to say “you want me – you know you want me”! It’s only a matter of time.

Please take a look at Ivy’s blog, read what she has to say and for those people who are acting like asshats, you need to get a grip, designer’s choose to give items away for free at their own discretion, they can also choose to withdraw those items at any time and should be able to do so without people having timmy tantrums in public and screaming that they have been ripped off.  Shame on you.

Thanks to Ivy and all the designers out there who offer freebies, it is appreciated by most of us, rest assured.

Gah, sorry to get on my soapbox – have a great weekend all!

Monday Moods

I’ve had a busy weekend so Monday came too soon, you ever feel that you somehow missed your weekend?  Today I wanted to rewind back to Sunday and opted for something relaxed, soft and feminine.

 fullcardi.jpg

Yesterday I found this fab little sweater at KUROTSUBAKI, it moves so sweetly with it’s four prim attachments and drapes so softly making it soothing to the eye which is what I needed after a fractious day at work.

uppercardi2.jpg

These gloves were a freebie find at IZUMYA a month or so ago, you can find some cute freebies there.  The hair I found at The Abyss which I discovered through reading Sophia Gray’s blog on some boots she bought there.  I love the texturing of this hair, it works so well in black.  I’ve been finding a lot of black hair at the moment seems to lose it’s definition and look like a black blob or worse, look like it belongs to a Lego person, so I appreciate this one a lot^^

halfcardi.jpg

The jewellery doesn’t co-ordinate with the colours of the outfit but it gives a nice soft contrast and sometimes if you colour match everything an outfit can look too contrived, but that’s just my stupid opinion lol and prolly an excuse not to have tried harder :P

Twilight Tango

I bought this dress a week or so ago and have been meaning to blog it ever since but I’ve had severe lag lately and even trying to rez an outfit has been a nightmare.  I’ve been lucky today and even managed this, a second post……go me!

fulldress2.jpg

This dress is, in a word marvelous, the skirt is bang up to the minute in style and not unlike !_Ce_Cubic effect’s Tiered Skirt, but it is actually a skirt with the prims attaching to the spine and hips as opposed to the prims being attached to the legs.

halfdress3.jpg

I adore the subtle sparkles scattered in swathes over the top half of the dress, it really stops the dress from  looking one dimensional and adds a special touch.  One word of warning though, those who dislike showing the cracks of their arses should avoid this one.  I usually don’t get my cheeks out for anyone but this dress is class, pure and simple, therefore, my arse is class too ;p

Snug in Snakeskin

I stopped by Muism today and the first thing I spotted was this divine snakeskin jacket, It’s so beautiful I nearly peed myself.  Thankfully no need for the Tenor Lady just yet, my bladder control is to be commended.

snakefull2.jpg

The jacket comes with a hoodie option too, and it looks great but I wanted a more dressy feel to it so left the hood off.  I teamed the jacket with a gold tunic and leggings from Armidi to add some richness.  Keeping to the reptillian theme I am wearing Armidi’s brown crocodile Vidalia Pumps.

snakeupper1.jpg

The accessories are the Boho set from Earthtones, the sunglasses are Armidi’s Fi Umo glasses.

snakeface2.jpg

This hair is just the cutest, I love it to bits, I got it today as a freebie (dollarbie) from ETD and it is aptly named “Lovely”.

The Bold & the Beautiful….

I’ve been lurking in LeeZu Baxters for a day or two now, my eye kept being drawn to the Revolution Mo outfit.  It’s striking that’s for sure and bold to boot.  I wasn’t sure if I wanted it as at first, to me, it was a confusing piece.  Then yesterday eureeka -I got it (I bought it too ;p), I understood Leezu’s outfit and the more I played, the more I loved it.

 fullcoat3.jpg

This daring use of colour and the abstract quilting patterns of the coat make it so unique, abstract art, bold patterns and colour is gonna be big this year.  I chose to team the coat with a pair of red ankle boots, black skinny jeans and a red shirt.  What is great about the coat is you can pick any of the many colours and use that as your accent colour, it’s so diverse.

This outfit is one of the other combinations, and at first it kinda just hits you with a WTH, but the more you look, the more it grows on you, well for me it did lol.  It’s edgy and fun and the transparent skirt is awesome.  I had to keep accessories down to a minimum here as the dress really doesn’t need a lot.  I wore red earrings and bronze wedge heels to co-ordinate.

Ode to Lauren Bacall

This look really made me think of the old 40’s film stars.  Starlets bedecked in tailored trousers inspired by Coco Chanel along with sweaters and Coco’s trademark multiple strands of pearls.  Lauren was one of the stars that came to mind, she would have looked good in a bin bag and I can picture her in an outfit similar to this lol.   Pity Lauren was a blonde, and as much as I admire her, I’ve been raven haired from my humble beginnings in SL & no way in hell will you see me in blonde hair^^

lauren1.jpg

I bought this cardigan from Ce_Cubic a while ago, I haven’t really managed to find anything to team it with until today.  Today was a good day, I found these lounge pants at Mocca for L$50.  I was already wearing the cardigan and the combination gave me my inspiration for this post.

upper1.jpg

Once I added the black pearls from Muse and the skin from Pelle Figura, I had my outfit, I just needed a clutch bag to finish it.

bag.jpg

Looove this bag, it’s from DEJAVU & comes in another four colours too which I will be going back for no doubt ;p
